Case Study

East Hills Mall, originally built in 1964, has been a strong economic catalyst for St. Joseph, MO (just north of Kansas City) and has drawn customers from a multi-state region. But the mall became dated and a major renovation was deemed critical for future success.

Redesign for the 676,000 sq. ft. center was provided by Hollis + Miller Architects, Lee’s Summit, MO in collaboration with ComArts of Boulder, CO.

Approximately 14,000 sq. ft. of Citadel’s Envelope 2000® metal composite material (MCM) was used to create appeal and to highlight strategic entrances to the mall. The Citadel panels were installed using the Reveal (RV) System; a field assembled attachment method utilizing perimeter moldings, and finished in Regal Red and Regal Blue.

The Citadel panels were installed by Seaman and Schuske Metal Works, St. Joseph, MO. The Citadel sales representative was J.D. Day & Company, Overland Park, KS.

The general contractor on the project was Walton Construction Company, Kansas City.
