Case Study

Bayside Village offers off-campus housing for students attending any of six colleges in the Portland, ME area. The 200,000 sq. ft. facility is managed by American Campus Communities, one of the nation's leading managers of upscale, academically-oriented student communities. The five story building consists of 100 four-bedroom apartments.

As a large urban redevelopment project, Bayside Village is designed with contemporary character and detailing that will help define downtown Portland's first 21st century neighborhood. Approximately 19,000 sq. ft. of Citadel ProCore™ plastic core panels finished in Silver Metallic contribute to the design success. ProCore™ is a field-assembled exterior cladding system that offers exceptional value.

Design for the project was provided by CWS Architects, Portland, ME. "The design for Bayside provides a contemporary vocabulary that contrasts and complements the traditional style of old Portland," according to Ben Walter, AIA, president of CWS. "Probably the greatest challenge was accommodating the high-density nature of the 1.3 acre site. But everybody likes the contemporary look and the aesthetic elements that make it pleasing."

The Citadel ProCore™ panels interface with shot blasted ground face concrete masonry on the lower three levels of the building's facade. Installation of the Citadel panels was done by Hahnel Brothers, Lewiston, ME. The general contractor on the project was Pizzagalli Construction, Portland, ME.

Citadel Architectural Products, Inc. offers one of the most complete selections of cladding solutions in the industry. From high-end fabricated metal composite material (MCM) to field-assembled systems and glazing infill panels, Citadel provides value at all levels.
