ENVELOPE 2000® HELPS TO CREATE ICONIC LOOK FOR REC CENTER AT HIGH- TECH CAMPUS
Feb 01, 2012
Kansas State University's satellite campus in Salina, KS specializes in aviation and aeronautical studies. Located on the site of the previously closed Schilling Air Force Base, a focal point of the campus is the new Student Life Recreation Center. The 34,000 sq ft facility is an integral part of the first phase of the long range plan for developing the campus.
The center offers a gymnasium, elevated running track, racquetball court, weight room, lounge, lockers, and administrative offices.
Design for the project was provided by The Ebert Mayo Design Group. "It's a technical campus and we wanted to create a 'wow' factor that would be in keeping with its character," said Rob Westberg, project architect.
"For this type of application, we would prefer to use it over any of the other competitive systems that are available", project manager Bryce McClurg of Hausman Metal Works.
